The Prime Location for HQ2

In 2017, Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), an Amazon.com company, announced plans to establish a new East Coast corporate campus in Fairfax County, creating up to 1,500 new jobs and investing $85.6 million. Virginia competed against Texas and Washington state for the project, with Fairfax being selected because it offered state-of-the-art infrastructure, a highly skilled well-educated workforce and access to global markets through Washington Dulles International Airport.
